SPAN 395IP Applied Linguistics Teaching Spanish
The courses SPAN 302 history/phonetic structure Spanish language, Diversity in the Spanish language world, and applied linguistics teaching Spanish all helped me to fulfill MLO 2. These courses helped my understanding and knowledge of the structure of the Spanish language. Both SPAN 302 and diversity Spanish language in the world taught the history of Spanish from it's Latin root and the factors that influenced its evolution through time. It was especially neat to learn from the diversitySpanish language in the world being in Andalusia, Spain. The professor talked about the Moorish influence in the language. It was amazing to not only see that influence in the language, but also in Andalusia and the culture there. We had many assignments where we had to think of words that were of specific origins. In my applied linguistic, we learned how to break apart the Spanish language and create lesson plans on how to teach elements of the language. I created a lesson plan on how to differentiate between the usage of "que" and the usage of "cual." This class was very challenging for me because I had not yet learned all of the things we were supposed to be able to teach others. I had to play catch-up and study a lot. In any case, all of these classes were extremely useful to my understanding of the Spanish language. It is amazing to be able to break it down and put it back together with a new understanding.
