SPAN 322: Masterpieces of Hispanic Literature: Latin America & the Caribbean
Reading and discussion of selected masterworks of literature as they reflect the historical, political, and social context of the Latin American and Caribbean experience. Students are introduced to critically reading, writing, and discussing the form and content of these literary masterpieces. Taught in Spanish.
Reflective Course Narrative
This course was one of the first courses that I had ever taken in Spanish were it was an actual class and not a class teaching the Spanish language. We discussed many Latin American authors. We would discuss literary works in class and we would have reading assignments at home. In this class we didn't have many writing assignments, but we did have a midterm that required a lot of thought and writing. We had to analyze many sections of various literature that we had read in class. We also had to present at the end of the class. I presented about "La mujer que llegaba a las seis" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. All in all this class was a huge challenge for me, but I gained a substancial amount of insight on various Latin American writers.
